This Month:

 

Sunday Activities –Sunday School has classes for all ages from 10:00 am to 10:50 am.  The adults will meet in the multi-purpose room, the teens will meet in “The Cave”, the junior high class will meet in the library, and the upper and lower elementary classes will be in rooms 123 and 125 as they were last spring.  The pre-school class will meet in the art room.  Our worship assembly will be from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm in the multi-purpose room.  We will have children’s church in the art room during the sermon time and will have a nursery area available just outside the multi-purpose room.  On Sunday, November 17, we will have our quarterly business meeting immediately following services.  Child care will be provided!  

 

Life Groups – We have one lifegroup meeting at the Epton’s home on Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30 pm with Kevin Watson and Duane Epton co-teaching.  Another lifegroup also meets at the Land’s home on Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30 pm with Bob Land teaching.  One lifegroup also meets on Wednesday evening from 7-8:30 pm at the Henry’s home and is co-taught by Mark Henry and Dean Carson.   All are invited to be part of these groups.  

 

Singing at Providence Extended Care - Friday, November 9, from 7-8:00 pm.

 

Teen Activities and Devotionals – Teens will meet on the first and third Friday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 pm for their monthly devotionals.  See the weekly email for locations.  The teens are encouraged to participate in the Providence Singing as their monthly service project.   

 

Ladies’ Bible Study –This fall the Ladies’ Bible Study will be held in conjunction with some ladies from the Anchorage church on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am.  It will use Beth Moore materials.  Call Carol Fincher for more information and the weekly location. 

 

Old Testament Class – We are offering a college level “Introduction to the Old Testament” on Sunday evenings from 6-8:00 pm at the church office from September 16 to December 16.  No child care will be available.  This class will require the purchase of a textbook, taking tests, writing papers, and receiving a final grade. 

 

Men’s Bible Study – Friday mornings, 6:30 am at Kaladi Brothers on Brayton Drive.

 

Youth Sunday – We will have our 5th Sunday Youth Service on September 30.  Our teens and other youth will participate in our service in special ways that day… plan now to come and encourage these young hearts.

 

Christmas Service – We will have a special service on December 23 as we celebrate Christmas!

 

 

 

 

Bible Studies and Classes

Sunday School is going full schedule!  New lifegroups and Bible classes are scheduled as listed above.  Our class entitled “Introduction to the Old Testament” began on Sunday evening, September 16th.  This will be a college level class that will last the fall semester.    

 

Life Groups – Call the Host Family/Leader of your choice for more information.

 

Our lifegroups now have a new format and emphasis.  Leaders include Duane Epton, Mark Henry, Bob Land, Dean Carson, and Kevin Watson. 

 

 

 

 

Youth Group

Bob and Lisa Land will be leading our teen group this fall.  Bob and Monique Moore will be teaching the junior high class this fall.   

 

 

Men’s Study

Anyone who is interested in starting their day with a Bible study and a cup of coffee should join the Men's Study at Kaladi Brothers on Brayton Drive at 6:30 am on Fridays.

 

Theme for 2007:  Transformational Discipleship

This year we will have a series of lessons that will be based on Romans 12.  We will discover how God calls us, equips us, and guides us to be transformed in our living.  Our lifegroups, Bible classes, and other activities will all tie into this theme. 

  

Building Update:

We have good news from the Anchorage School District:  our request to use the Northern Lights ABC Elementary School for the 2007-2008 school year has been approved, so we are not under immediate pressure to move.  We continue to look for rental arrangements and/or land to purchase. 

 

 

Other Events Coming Up:

  1. The quarterly business meeting will be on Sunday, November 17 immediately after services.  Child care will be provided. 
  2. The Thanksgiving Blessing will be on November 17 and 18 at the Crosspoint Church building.  Be sure to bring your cans of green beans in the next couple of weeks!
  3. Additional events will be announced week by week.

Singing at Providence Extended Care

We meet on the second Friday of every month at the Providence Extended Care facility from 7:00 to 8:00 pm for a time of singing favorite hymns with the residents.  Please join us!  The address is 4900 Eagle St.   This month it will be on November 9th. 

 

 

 

Thanksgiving Blessing

This fall we will once again participate in the city wide faith based initiative that helps bring a meal to families in need.  Last year we helped serve over 700 families.  This year we are committed to bringing 700 cans of green beans and to help set up and staff the distribution center on November 18 and 19.  Start collecting now!

 

 

Long Range Schedules

Now is the time to finalize planning for our holiday schedule.  If you have ideas, please let one of the elders or ministry team leaders or Mark know!
